This late summer I walked St. Michaels Way, a challenging and beautiful day hike in Cornwall England. The trail is 20km in length and part of the European Cultural History trail, including the Camino Inglés and Camino Santiago, with stunning views along the coast line. I highly recommend trying this day hike for yourself!

St. Michaels Mount at the end of the hike
I chose this particular hike because I was solo bike-packing my way around Cornwall, and was camped in St Ives. The coast-to-coast hike begins in northerly Cornwall at Lelant, and ends at southerly St. Michaels Mount.

Shortly after the start in Lelant, Cornwall
The first stretch from Lelant to Carbis bay you are walking with the sea to your right and can enjoy the peaceful waves along a relatively straight-forward path that's easy to follow. You are guided by the Camino symbol of the shell and the route itself is really well sign-posted throughout the whole walk.

Carbis Bay in the distance, walking along the coast line
When you’re near St. Michaels Mount and along the seafront, you can walk across to the Mount by foot if the tide is out, or if the tide is in you can catch a ferry. You can find out about ferry times to get across the water to St. Michaels Mount here.

Some beautiful scenery and flowers along the route
If you’d like to read up more on the historical significance of this trail you can read more here.

The trail is navigated by the shell symbol of the Camino de Inglés and Camino de Santiago, sometimes alongside the South West Coast Path acorn symbol
To navigate the trail I used All Trails which is free to use and simple to follow the route. I downloaded the app on my phone and followed the trail for free. Find the route here.
